The kinds of moves we do in Coburg

Coburg sits in the City of Merri-bek, postcode 3058, and it is a suburb of two halves as far as a removalist is concerned: the older streets either side of Sydney Road, and the newer apartment stock that has gone up along it. The jobs we get called to there tend to fall into three groups:

• Period homes on the side streets. Californian bungalows, weatherboards and solid brick houses, often with a narrow driveway, a front fence and a few steps up to the verandah. Generally straightforward, as long as we know about the steps.
• Townhouses and units. Newer developments through Coburg and Coburg North commonly share a single driveway with very little visitor parking, so we want to know in advance where the truck can legally stand.
• Apartments along and near Sydney Road. Mid-rise blocks where booking the lift and a loading bay is genuinely the difference between a two-hour job and a four-hour one.

Access and parking worth sorting before the day

• Sydney Road is the hard one. Tram tracks, clearway times and almost nowhere for a truck to stand legally for long. If you are moving on or just off it, tell us early and we will work out where the truck goes and what time we start.
• Coburg station is on the Upfield line and the streets around the station and the Coburg shops fill up quickly on weekdays. A Saturday or Sunday start is often easier, and we work seven days.
• Check whether your street or building has permit or time-limited parking. A permit is arranged through the council or your building manager, not by us, so it is worth doing early.
• Many of the older Coburg properties have rear lane access. Lanes are useful but are frequently too narrow for a removal truck, and we would much rather know beforehand than find out on the morning.
• If you share a driveway with neighbours, give them a heads-up that a truck will be there for a few hours.

We are a removals company, not a packing company: we do not pack your belongings into boxes for you and we do not offer storage. If you are packing yourself, we sell boxes and packing supplies in our shop.

What to tell us when you book

• Both addresses, and the floor level at each end
• How many steps or stairs there are, and how far it is from the truck to the door
• Anything heavy or awkward: a piano, a large fridge, a safe, a glass cabinet
• Whether everything will be packed and ready before we arrive
• Your date and preferred start time
