We have been moving Melbourne businesses since 2014, from small studios in the inner north to full floors across the northern suburbs. Office moves are charged at an upfront hourly rate, the same way our house moves are, and we work 7 days a week so the move can happen when your office is empty rather than when it is busy.

What we move

  • Desks, workstations and office chairs
  • Filing cabinets, shelving and storage units
  • Computers, monitors, printers and other IT equipment
  • Boardroom and reception furniture
  • Kitchen appliances and fit-out items
  • Heavy single items such as safes and server racks — tell us the weight when you book so we bring the right gear
  • Whiteboards, signage, plants and artwork

We are removalists, not a packing company. We do not pack your desks or files for you and we do not offer storage, so everything needs to be boxed and labelled before we arrive. We can supply the boxes — see our moving boxes and packing supplies.

What an office move with us looks like

Two movers and a truck arrive at the time booked, with furniture blankets, trolleys and straps already on board. We protect lifts and doorways where the building requires it, dismantle desks that need to come apart, load by destination room so the unload runs in the right order, and reassemble at the other end. The clock starts when we arrive and stops when the last item is in place.

Smaller offices are often done in a single run. Larger sites are usually split across two trips or two trucks, and we will tell you which when we have seen your inventory.

Planning your office move

  1. Make an inventory. List what is moving, what is being thrown out and what is new.
  2. Book building access at both sites: lifts, loading docks and out-of-hours building entry.
  3. Label everything with the destination room or desk number.
  4. Back up your data and have your IT provider disconnect equipment before we arrive.
  5. Pack desks and files into sealed crates or boxes. We do not provide a packing service.
  6. Nominate one contact who will be on site at both ends and can make decisions on the day.

Working to a longer timeline? Our step-by-step guide to planning an office move in Melbourne covers loading dock and lift bookings, internet lead times, the IT handover and what makes a move run over.

Access, lifts and loading docks

Access is the single biggest thing that pushes an office move past its estimate, and it is also the part most easily sorted in advance. Before the day, check and confirm:

  • Lift booking. Most commercial buildings require the goods lift to be booked, and some charge for it. Book both ends, with a buffer either side.
  • Loading dock height and time limit. Docks usually have a clearance height and a maximum stay. Tell us the clearance so we bring a truck that fits.
  • Building induction and proof of insurance. Many buildings ask for a removalist’s insurance details before they will allow access. We are fully insured and can provide ours — see our insurance page.
  • Parking. Where there is no dock, we need a legal place to put a truck close to the door. A permit or a reserved bay saves more time than anything else on this list.
  • Out-of-hours entry. If the move runs outside business hours, someone needs to be able to let us in and sign us out at both ends.

Moving computers and workstations

We move IT equipment carefully — screens blanket-wrapped and strapped, towers and peripherals kept together — but we are not an IT company. Disconnecting and reconnecting networks, servers and phone systems should be done by your IT provider, and it is worth booking them for the same window so nothing sits idle.

Photograph the back of anything complicated before it is unplugged, keep cables with the machine they belong to rather than in one communal box, and carry hard drives and anything irreplaceable yourself.

What an office move costs

We charge by the half hour at an upfront rate, confirmed before the job starts. There is no weight-based estimate and no surprise paperwork at the end.

  • Van and man — from $40 per half hour. Suits a handful of desks, a small studio or a single-item shift.
  • 4.5 tonne truck and two movers — from $55 per half hour. The usual choice for a small office.
  • 6.5 tonne truck and two movers — from $60 per half hour. For larger sites, boardroom furniture and full floors.

Furniture blankets, trolleys and straps are included in the rate. What changes the total is the number of items, how far the carry is at each end, and how long lift or dock access takes. Full details are on our removalist prices page.

What to tell us when you book

  • Both addresses, the floor each one is on, and whether there is a lift or stairs
  • The number of desks and chairs, and anything unusually heavy
  • Whether there is a loading dock, and its clearance height
  • Your preferred date, and whether it has to be a weekend or an evening
  • Who will be on site at each end

That is enough for us to quote the right truck and crew the first time. Send it through here, or call and we will work it out on the phone.

Frequently asked questions

Can you move our office on a weekend?

Yes. We work 7 days a week, and a Saturday or Sunday move is the usual way to avoid losing a working day.

Do you do evening or after-hours moves?

Evening moves can be arranged. Tell us when you enquire so we can check the crew and the building access at both ends before confirming.

Do you disconnect and set up computers?

We carefully move IT equipment, but disconnecting and reconnecting networks should be done by your IT provider.

How is an office move priced?

We charge by the hour and confirm our rate upfront. The size of the office, access and the number of movers all affect the total.

Do you pack our desks and files?

No. We do not offer a packing service, so desks and files need to be boxed before we arrive. We do sell boxes and packing supplies.

Can you store our furniture between sites?

No. We do not offer storage. If your new site is not ready, you will need a storage provider, and we can move to and from it.

Are you insured?

Yes. We are fully insured, and we can provide our details if your building manager asks for them before the move.

How far in advance should we book?

The sooner the better for weekends and end-of-month dates, which go first. Mid-week and mid-month moves are easier to fit in at short notice.
